Did you know that your body might actually be doing a good thing by sending you those pain signals? What if blocking pain is actually causing you to be worse in the long term?
Is Your Goal Pain Relief, or True Healing?
When you come to our clinic, what is your goal? Is it just to feel better?
There are a lot faster (and less expensive) ways to simply “feel” better. There are almost as many pharmacies and drug stores as there are Starbucks where you can find plenty of remedies to help you “feel” better quickly.
I assume if you are still reading this that those are not the options you choose for your healthcare. However, when you are in pain it’s easy to forget why you are getting adjusted and that the pain might actually be beneficial. When you are in pain, remember that:
- Your body is trying to tell you to stop doing the activity that caused the problem, and/or
- Your body doesn’t like the positions you keep putting it in, and/or
- Your body’s tissue is damaged and needs healing.
The Role of Corrective Care Chiropractic in Long-Term Healing
The job of the chiropractor should NEVER be to find ways to “manipulate” the body in order to achieve temporary relief. At its best, that is short-sighted and downright dangerous at its worst. That is why we never base your healing progress on simply how you feel, but how you function. That is also why we do not participate in most insurance networks because they only allow symptom-based “relief” care without ever addressing the true cause.
The real job of the corrective care chiropractor is to:
- Teach you how to stop causing subluxations (by how you live), and
- Empower you to become self-aware and recognize when you are doing something harmful to yourself, and
- Adjust misaligned segments of your spine “subluxations” that are interfering with the transmission of the signals from your nervous system so that your body can function and heal at its absolute best.
We, as chiropractors, care that you are well and function at your best so you can fulfill your soul purpose on this planet. That’s why we care for your nervous system.
Healing is Controlled By Your Brain and Spinal Cord
It’s not about your “back”.
If the nervous system was located in your arm, we would focus on your arm. If you have back pain, you want to heal.
Where does healing come from? Yes, God.
But if you fall and scrape your knee, you get a scab. Your body was designed to respond to the damage intelligently. God put all the intelligence and healing power inside of your brain and spinal cord. Your brain and spinal cord control all healing and all functioning inside the body. For your heart to beat, lungs to breathe or even a scrape to heal, information has to start in the brain and the signal travels down the spinal cord and over the nerves to every organ, cell, and tissue.
Therefore, a back problem is really a nerve problem, which in turn is actually a health problem! Why Does it Still Hurt? When #Pain Is a Good Thing Click To Tweet
Avoid Temporary Pain Relief!
If you have back pain, the worst thing that could happen is that you get temporary relief or a doctor (of any kind) mindlessly chasing the symptoms of back pain without correcting the underlying cause. You want healing and healing starts with the spine and nervous system. The body doesn’t need any help to heal you, just no interference.
Our job is to remove the interference by adjusting subluxated segments of the spine that are interfering with the optimal nervous system function. This is why I still get adjusted at least every week now and will for the rest of my life. This is why my wife and two young girls get adjusted.
Life is lived best when you can live subluxation free. So let’s get your POWER TURNED ON!
