Today, I want to talk about a very important topic which is the health of your children. A lot of parents ask me,
What should I do when my child is sick?
When it comes to your child and them being sick, there’s a lot of fear and uncertainty. I want to help clear some of that up there for you today and help you get some natural solutions so you know what to do next time your child’s not feeling as well.
What Should I Do If My Child Is Running a Fever?
The first thing parents typically ask about is, “what happens when my child has a fever?”
Fever is a good thing! Fever is the body healing. It’s heating the body off to kill the infection.
If you do anything to reduce your child’s fever you’re actually reducing the body’s own immune response, prolonging the infection and interfering with the healing process. Children can have a fever above 100 degrees in fact, as much 103 and even 104 and still be okay.
The best thing you can do is let the fever run its course. If your child is getting really warm, you can apply an ice compress. You can put them in an ice bath to start cooling them down. Don’t need to reach for the Tylenol or get overly concerned right away.
Another thing you can do when your child’s not feeling well if it’s a young baby is breastfeeding. Breastfeeding your child is amazing for immune response and ensures they’re getting high quality nutrients.
What Natural Solutions Can I Use When My Child Is Sick?
Anything that reduces symptoms can prolong your child’s illness. These include cough suppressants, fever reducers, and any type of medication or pill that interferes with the body’s immune response.
There are natural things that you can give your child. Natural antibacterial properties are found in Colloidal Silver, Echinacea, Vitamin C, and Vitamin D. You can get these in liquid or even powder form. New Life Chiropractic has specific formulations just for kids.
And don’t forget the power of the Chiropractic Adjustment. In just one adjustment, your child will get as much as 200% boost in the immune system response to help fight off their infection. A lot of my parents will bring in their sick child right away for an adjustment to help remove the interference so the immune system can work better and they get well within the next day or two.
So the next time your child is not feeling well or is sick for any reason. Don’t just reach for a pill or go straight to the doctor. Think about the natural things you can do and bring your child into the chiropractor.
