Spinal Decompression in Rocklin
For patients with disc issues and certain other conditions, spinal decompression therapy may provide an effective and safer alternative to drugs and surgery. At New Life Chiropractic, we offer this cutting-edge technology to help our patients achieve their optimal health potential—and we want to help you, too!
What Is It?
Spinal discs are fluid-filled cushions that act as shock absorbers and spacers between your vertebrae. Injuries, accidents, wear and tear, and even the effects of gravity can compress the discs, causing them to bulge outward. When this protrusion presses on nearby nerves, severe pain can result.
Decompression creates negative pressure that pulls the disc back into place, alleviating the pressure on the nerves to reduce pain. It also helps hydrate the disc, reduces inflammation and strengthens the disc over time—so you feel better and may function better now and in the future.
Our Approach
We use the KDT Neural Flex table, a computerized table that gently stretches your spine to reduce pressure on the disc. You’ll lie on the table, and we’ll set it for the appropriate amount of stretch; you can relax while the table does all the work! This therapy isn’t painful, and most patients enjoy the process. You may feel some relief after one session, but complete healing takes time.
Based on your consultation and examination, we may recommend this therapy as part of your overall care plan. It is often effective with conditions such as:
- Disc herniations, bulges, protrusions
- Chronic low back pain
- Chronic neck pain
- Sciatic pain
- Numbness and tingling
- Radiculopathy
If your chiropractor believes decompression can help you, they’ll explain the process and what to expect. Your questions are always welcome!
