June is Men’s Health Month. I really want to talk about some of the common issues I see men coming in with and how we’re able to help them find a natural drug free solution.
Whether it’s for you or the important man in your life, whatever age they may be. We see people from newborns, children, adolescents, and adults later in life. I even have patients that are in their 90s and they all benefit from care in some type of way.

Many Men Come in With Pain
Number one is pain. A lot of you guys, or you know, those guys in your life that are kind of the stubborn type… they don’t admit something’s wrong, right?
They may even be to the point where they can’t move, but they just tough it out. They just deal with it, right?
Typically, I see when the families that we take care of, the dad or the men in the family is one of the last ones to come in, sometimes months or even years of coercing until they finally get bad enough to where they come and get themselves evaluated.
Why do we have to do that guys? Why do we wait until it’s so bad to finally admit, “Okay, maybe I need a little bit of help here.”
How We Are Helping Men With Their Most Common Health Problems
I want to share some of the things that we see consistently and how we’re helping people like you be able to get better.
One of the most common issues I see with men is lower back problems. Whether that’s injuries from football back in high school or heavy labor work that you do, or maybe you have a job where you sit at a desk all day at a computer because you’re an engineer or you’re a software person.
Whatever that may be, we all have stresses on our bodies on a consistent basis, and when your body is under more stress than it can adapt to this creates what’s called a catabolic system. This is where your body is breaking down faster than its building back up.
For us guys that means:
- faster aging
- more weight gain
- burning off of muscle
- lower testosterone
- increased stress response.
A catabolic system doesn’t just cause pain, a lot of times that will create sciatic issues with pain that goes into the hip, the knees, feet and sometimes numbness and tingling that prevents you from doing the healthy things that are necessary like working, doing activities, playing sports, and exercising. Maybe just picking up your kids or going for a walk is painful or limiting for you.
Your Nervous System Issues Can Also Cause Digestive, Urinary and Reproductive Issues
What most people don’t know is those very same nerves also go and they regulate your digestive function. So it’s very common to also have inflammatory bowel issues, issues with irritable bowel syndrome, problems with assimilation of nutrients, problems with bloating or other digestive health issues.
These nerves also go to your reproductive organs. That could mean problems with regular sexual function. That could be problems with your bowel or bladder systems. That could be prostate issues.
I commonly see people with lower back issues also have many of these same conditions but never connected it to this.
Neck, Shoulder and Upper Bank Problems Are Common in Men
The other issues that I see consistently is going to be neck, shoulders, and upper back problems.
You may have had injuries long ago that damaged your shoulder or something in your arm. You may have problems in your neck or upper back that you just attribute to the stress of daily life. But again many people don’t know that the nerves in your neck regulate the function of your shoulders. They go down into your hands and into your arms. They can cause numbness and tingling issues, but they also regulate the normal function of your heart and your lungs.
How Neck and Upper Back Problems are Often Related to Circulatory & Respiratory Issues
So it’s very common to have a neck and upper back problem, a shoulder issue, numbness or tingling in the arm and also have high blood pressure, heart problems, breathing issues like asthma, low energy, or low metabolism. Because it’s connected to the very same issues.
That’s why a problem with your spine is not a neck or back problem. It’s not a muscle issue. It’s a nerve problem and those nerves, they regulate your health. It’s very common due to overwhelming stress that you develop a condition called subluxation where the spine is no longer moving or functioning correctly. It’s lost its normal alignment and your body can no longer adapt to the stress around you. That’s typically when you feel what’s going on.
How Corrective Chiropractic Care Restores Function
What we do as a corrective care chiropractor is we actually go through and evaluate all those things. We find the areas that are no longer working correctly. We want to get to the cause and the areas of interference, preventing normal function and healing. And once we do that and are able to restore function, that’s when things start to improve.
I’ve seen guys that have had back problems for decades that are now able to play golf again They’re able to go run and work out and do the things that they want to do, things they thought they would never do again.
People who were told they had to take drugs for the rest of their life for their high blood pressure, for their high cholesterol, for their heart issues, that are now no longer taking those.
People who tried every diet and could never lose weight, within just a month or two of care, losing 10, 20 or 30 pounds with zero added intervention other than just getting to the cause and improving normal hormonal balance.
People who couldn’t sleep or had low energy that are now sleeping throughout the night, having vitality again, and now can really serve life to the best of their capacity.
