Is your body acidic? Do you drink soda on a regular basis?
A can of soda has a pH of 2.5. If you put your teeth in soda, they will dissolve. It’s 50,000 times more acidic than neutral which is 7.
Even drinking an occasional soda is not a good thing. It takes 30 cups of water to neutralize one can of soda. So, if you drink just one soda this week, you got to be neutralizing that with water all week long.
Other Sources of Acid in Your Diet
- Conventionally bought meats (like Foster Farms).
- Sugar.
- Grain
- Dairy products
- Caffeine
- Salt
- Alcohol
- Tobacco
- Artificial sweeteners
- All medications.
What are low acid diet foods?
Let’s break your diet into 3 areas – carbs, fats and proteins.
Carbs - , less is more. Aim for 15-20% of your dietary intake. The less you can put in your body, the better with the goal to eliminate all grains if possible.
It’s easy to replace bread and pasta and other grains with vegetables and lettuces and other types of things. It becomes routine and simple to eat good, complex carbs like raw vegetables. It just takes a little bit of time.
Fats – get rid of damaged fats but get lots of healthy fats. Aim for 60%. Don’t be afraid of fat. In fact, the more fat you have in your body, the more likely you are to actually burn fat and, the more energy you’re going to have.
Fat will sit there and smolder for a long time. So, it provides a lot more energy for your body.
Protein – You don’t need a whole lot of protein here. Aim for 15-20% intake of a good quality protein. If you’re an athlete who is working out super hard you can boost this up to 20-30%. But not too much higher than that.
You don’t need 200g of protein a day because when you consume too much it also turns into sugar. Your body can only take in so much at a time depending on your size.
If you only weigh 150 pounds, you can only take in 20 to 40 grams of protein at once. But, if you eat a giant porterhouse steak, that’s around 100 grams of protein right there. And this extra protein gets stored up and clogs up the digestive system or puts extra stress on your liver or other organs.
