Nutrition Essentials for Your Kids Health
One of the 5 essentials is healthy nutrition. Now, when it comes to kids, specifically, a lot of parents have questions like,
- What should I be feeding my kids?
- What’s good and what’s not good?
I want to provide you some answers that so that way you’ll have some good resources.
Number one, you want to try to avoid anything that’s processed. If it comes in a can, a box, or in some type of package or it’s frozen, the quality of nutrients is probably not there.
The biggest thing is you want to avoid is sugar. Sugar in any form – even high sugar fruits and especially fruit juices. Juices are full of sugar like high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners like sucralose, artificial flavorings, even natural flavorings a lot of times have quite a bit of bad stuff in them.
So, colorful things, sugary things, processed things are what you want to avoid.
The best thing for kids is to get them natural healthy snacks. Things like raw nuts and seeds, different types of berries, and apples. You can get them some raw dairy products like raw cheese. Focus on things that are more natural, and that are easy to get that can be snacks.
When it comes to any types of meat you want to get them natural too. Serve your kids the same things that you would eat. It’s best to avoid the “kid-type” food like lunchables, packaged stuff, and gummies. Some of that stuff can be convenient but really not healthy.
What Do I Feed My Own Kids?
A lot of times what we do for our kids is we make little mixes, like trail mix and nut mixes. We use a lot of nut butters, things like almond butter and sunflower butter. We use naturally sprouted grains which is in healthier types of breads. And wee them lots of berries.
A lot of times, we’ll feed the kids the stuff that we’re eating. They don’t have to have specific kid food. They can eat the same stuff that you’re eating on a regular basis.
What Your Kids Should Drink
When it comes to liquids, focus most getting your kids to drink lots of water. If you’re going to give them juice, you want to do vegetable juice and not V8. Fresh pressed green juice, not orange juice or fruit juice is best. Avoid chocolate milk and stuff like that.
